The Crockett County Consolidated Common School District is a district worth checking out. We invite you to learn more about public education in Ozona, Texas. You may be new to the area or a long-time Ozona resident, but in either case, the following will provide you with current information about Crockett County Schools. It is the philosophy of the Crockett County Consolidated Common School District that "All children can learn" and that high expectations, a well-structured curriculum, highly competent staff, and an exceptionally supportive community contribute to ensuring that "All children do learn".

THE SCHOOL DISTRICT Geographically, the Crockett County Consolidated Common School District is one of the largest school districts in Texas and is unique in that it is one of the few common school districts in the state. The district serves approximately 800 students on four attractive, well-maintained campuses. Kindergarten through second grade students attend Ozona Primary School. Students in grades three through five attend Ozona Intermediate School. Both elementary schools have received Texas Education Agency Academic Performance Gains Awards in excess of $60,000 over the past two years. Students in grades six through eight are in Ozona Middle School, and grades nine through twelve attend Ozona High School. Crockett County Consolidated Common School District is a class AA school, and its students participate in most of the UIL scholastic and athletic activities available in that classification. Students may participate in more than one sport including football, basketball, track, cross country, tennis, baseball, and golf, as well as other extracurricular activities that are concurrently running. Ozona High School students have won or placed in the top three at state competition in debate, speaking events, and journalism. The Ozona High School Band also has been awarded numerous honors at both the regional and state levels. Ozona Lady Lions have been State AA basketball champions both in 1995 and 1996. Teachers have an average of 9.72 years teaching experience, and 15.6 percent of teachers hold advanced degrees. Teachers receive $5,000 above state base, and the average teacher salary is $35,594.00. The district is committed to preparing its students and teachers for the technology that will be used in the 21st century. In the past three years, the board of trustees has provided more than $800,000 in instructional technology equipment to move the local school system three years ahead of its initial five-year plan for technology. MISSION STATEMENT The primary mission of the Crockett County Consolidated Common School District is to provide an educational program that will help each student to develop personal knowledge, skills, and competence to maximum capacity and to develop qualities of citizenship which will make each student a responsible member of society.
